Equality 9 Defense Planning Committee

Date/Time:
08/30/2011 - 6:30pm

  EQ9

Now is the time to ramp up efforts in support of the Equality 9!

We've been emboldened by none other than the judge presiding over their "criminal" case. Please come to this special planning meeting Tuesday Aug 30th, 6:30 PM (We meet in the building on the SE corner of 4th and Walnut In the Hillcrest area) to develop two or more upcoming actions.

The so-called "criminal" case against the 9 is ongoing. In the most recent hearing on Aug. 19th 2011, Judge Joan P. Weber warned the City Attorneys office that the prosecution of the 9 defendants on misdemeanor charges could potentially cost the city "thousands and thousands" of dollars and be very time consuming. As the courts prepare to cut millions from their budget, City Attorney Jan Goldsmith has chosen to pursue charges that even the judge warned would be difficult to prosecute. The next hearing is scheduled for Oct. 17th.

We organize to fight the ongoing inequality that Prop8 causes, and in the name of our other constitutional rights, the right to freedom of speech and to peaceably assemble. Join us as we demand justice and equality for all! Come to the meeting Tuesday Aug 30th!
