KGTV 10News Labor Boycott ends! Workers Win!

Scripps_KGTV

SAME members and Friends,

When SAME learned of the boycott on 10News back in early '09, our
organization honored and respected it in solidarity with workers.
First informally, then as official policy voted on by the full
membership in autumn '09.

SAME is pleased to report that "NABET-CWA Local 54" announced on their
Facebook site on Dec 30th 2011, that the sale of KGTV Channel 10 to
from "McGraw-Hill" to "Scripps Media" is complete, and the new
ownership begins on Jan 1st, thus ending "McGraw-Hill's" union-busting
campaign.

Here is the official announcement of the new ownership at --->

SAME Supports Channel 10 News Boycott

WHERAS SAME unequivocally supports the cause of organized Labor, and the right of workers to unite to resist attacks by often exploitative and discriminatory employers

WHERAS 10 News has been known, in its effort to deny its workforce a fair contract, to bait and intimidate employees on the basis of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, (as well as race, gender and age)

Support for boycott of Barra Barra and Fiestas de Reyes restaurants

June 2, 2009

We, members and supporters of the San Diego Alliance for Marriage Equality (SAME), a grassroots alliance that has been in the forefront of the movement for marriage equality in San Diego, stand in solidarity with the struggle of restaurant workers in Old Town for their jobs. We also support UNITE HERE Local 30’s call for a boycott of Barra Barra and Fiestas de Reyes restaurants until a just resolution is reached.
