Join The San Diego Coalition to Free Manning for a rally and candlelight vigil at 7pm at the corner of University Ave & 10th Ave in Hillcrest, SD, CA. This event will take place to show support for accused army whistleblower Pfc. Manning and the defense's motion to dismiss charges for lack of a speedy trial. The ruling will take place between February 26th and March 1st.
This date will mark the 1,000th day that this courageous political prisoner will have spent behind bars for revealing war crimes and other wrongdoing.
Nobel Peace Prize nominee Bradley Manning’s next appearance in court will take place April 24-26 at Ft. Meade, MD. At the previous hearing on March 15th, Bradley’s lawyer filed a motion to dismiss all charges based on the government’s failure to present evidence as requested. Additionally, a broad coalition of media groups filed a complaint because documents from the court proceedings have been mostly shielded from the public’s view. We are calling for conscientious citizens everywhere to organize in support of Bradley Manning during his next hearing. Drop all charges against Bradley Manning–punish the war criminals, not the whistle-blowers!
We will be banner over the I-5 on 3rd Ave between Beech and Cedar, downtown SD. We will then have a short march to Horton Plaza (near the fountain on Broadway for maximum visibility) where we will rally, chant, and have a couple of short speakers.
Please encourage organizations you are with to endorse and attend this action.
Why Manning’s Identity Shall Remain Private
February 14th, 2012
SAME (and other allied groups) is a signatory to an open letter calling for Bradley Manning to either receive an open, fair and speedy trial or to be released. Whistle-blowing on war crimes is not a crime!
Supporters will meet at the San Diego Civic Center AKA Occupy SD's Freedom Square (at 3rd ave and B street) at 3pm and march 6 blocks North to the 3rd Ave bridge over the I5 to place a banner for freeway traffic to see. We will then march back to Occupy San Diego to hold a rally and speak out.
On the 17th of December - his 24th birthday - Bradley Manning will have been incarcerated for 571 days.
