Equality Across America- San Diego Kick-Off!

Date/Time:
04/18/2010 - 6:00pm
Equality Across America formed following the National Equality March in October 2009, in which 200,000 people descended on Washington, DC from every corner of the country with scarcely any help from the established Gay-Rights groups. Fed up with the decades-old failed strategy of lobbying “friendly” politicians and high-dollar, politically cowardly campaigns that still fail to beat back right-wing assaults, activists today must demand what is right—full equality in every state, city and town—and build a fighting organization that can win.

SAME expresses its solidarity with students outraged against the string of racist incidents at UCSD in the last weeks.

Date/Time:
03/04/2010 - 5:30pm

SAME sees attacks on any oppressed class of people as part of a ingrained system that works to divide and conquer working class people--lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgendered people, people of color, immigrants, women, people of minority faith, people with disabilities--who otherwise could and often do naturally find solidarity among one-another, and who with the right level of consciousness can learn to act in unison for the social justice of all people against the forces that try to oppress us.

We Don't Buy the "Ex-Gay" Lie!

Date/Time:
03/06/2010 - 4:00pm

Pastor Jim Garlow is hosting a major anti-gay event on March 6th at his Rancho San Diego Skyline Mega-Church! Garlow is widely understood to have driven the Prop 8 campaing locally, and promotes the idea that homosexuality is a "sin" and that a person can be "cured" by embracing his doctrine of Christianity. The "Ex-Gay Ministry" parades around a tiny handful of speakers who claim to have been "cured", but it is widely known that people who undergo these browbeatings more often than not end up feeling more depressed, more conflicted, and more self hating.
